Will BYD Sealion 7 Fit Your Garage and Open Its Tailgate?
A garage can be long enough for a Sealion 7 yet still be awkward for daily entry, charging or opening the tailgate. Assess the space you will actually use rather than matching one vehicle length to one floor measurement. Include the offered car’s equipment and the obstacles around the parking position.

Measure the tightest part of the approach
Record the door opening, pillars, turning approach and the usable bay with storage or other vehicles in place. Establish whether a quoted width includes mirrors before using it. Mirror folding may help entry but does not create door-opening room once parked. If the approach is angled or narrow, request an appropriate practical trial rather than guessing from a straight-line measurement.
Allow room for people to leave the car
Mark where the driver and passengers will step out and check clearance with their normal seating positions. Child-seat access can need more room than an adult sliding through a partly opened door. Try the everyday parking arrangement, not an empty garage with all stored items removed. If one side must stay close to a wall, confirm that the other side remains genuinely usable.

Check the full tailgate movement
Measure the lowest overhead obstruction and ask for the actual opening path on the selected car. If an adjustable opening limit is available, confirm its supported operation and whether it leaves enough loading room. Do not treat obstacle detection as a substitute for adequate clearance or deliberately test it against the garage ceiling. A sloping driveway can also change the practical space around the rear.
Include the charging arrangement
Locate the car’s charging port and consider the supported cable route in the parked position. Avoid a plan that strains a connector, traps a cable in a door or requires an improvised electrical installation. Ask a qualified installer to assess electrical requirements separately. A vehicle that fits with the port facing an inaccessible corner may be inconvenient even when the basic body dimensions work.
What to request before agreeing the purchase
- Opening, approach and occupied-bay measurements including fixed obstacles.
- A door-access and tailgate demonstration for the actual version.
- A supported charging position reviewed separately from electrical installation.

The buying decision
Choose the Sealion only when entry, passenger access, loading and charging all fit your normal parking routine. Discovering a clearance problem before purchase is more useful than finding a workaround that makes every departure difficult.
Questions buyers ask
Can folded-mirror width be used as the required garage width?
Not alone. You still need clearance for safe movement, door access and the actual approach.
Will a powered tailgate always stop before touching a low ceiling?
Do not rely on that assumption. Verify clearance and supported settings without deliberately creating an obstruction.
